What is instinctive archery?

Instinctive archery is the art of shooting an arrow perfectly into the target without conscious aiming processes or additional aids. This is the origin of archery.

In the true sense of the terms, instinctive archery means being instinctively intuitive, successfully bringing the arrow to its target by the archer learning to trust their mental strength, experience, body awareness, and instincts completely. Surrendering control to one's own subconscious is the path to the target.

Since the beginning of the last century, instinctive archery has described this very special way of shooting arrows, which fascinates so many people and inspires them anew every day all around the globe.

Children are true masters of the technique of instinctive archery. Unburdened by thought, they shoot arrow after arrow, ultimately attaining the skill of hitting the target.

Instinctive archery or intuitive archery – what is the difference?

Instinctive and intuitive mean acting emotionally, unconsciously, and based on feeling. Both terms are identical and are used as synonyms in archery.

We only find different usage of these synonymous terms in their semantic application.

While instinctive archery is quickly associated with nature and the wilderness, we find intuitive archery used more in the meditative realm. It is important to mention that the term "instinctive archery" has grown historically and has been used for much longer than the term "intuitive archery."

In 1937, the term "Instinctive Archery" was mentioned by L. E. Stemmler in his book on the fundamentals of archery.

  • Target group: Ideal for beginners or archers who want to improve their technique. The basic course covers both theoretical and practical aspects of instinctive archery.

  • Special feature: Supplementary course and taster course together form the complete basic course. The course is ideal for refreshing and deepening your skills.

4. Advanced course in instinctive archery according to Henry Bodnik

Expansion of skills with a focus on mental strength and precision

  • Contents:
    • Base line (video)
    • Theory: Mental foundations, arrow physics, bare shaft test
    • Active training of the 3 training pillars
    • Super point training
    • Basic visual exercises and conclusion with a 3D tournament in the archery cinema
    • Intensive training to deepen mental foundations and precision shots
  • Duration: 7 hours for €105 per person (for more intensive training and deeper engagement with the techniques)
  • Prerequisite: Participation in a basic or supplementary course
  • Goal: The advanced course completes the cycle of training in instinctive archery, with mental strength at the forefront. The 8-hour variant offers more room for individual support and practical exercises.

Individual training

There is also the option of individual training, though it is important to note that this does not necessarily have to be training for a competitive athlete. Perhaps you simply want to ensure the trainer's undivided attention or do not like working in a group with strangers.

You determine the goal. Whether you want to work on your technique or your concentration, learn how to better focus on a target, or simply experience the relaxing aspects of archery, we are here for you. For one hour of intensive individual attention from a certified trainer, we charge only €60 per hour. Please contact us to arrange a personal appointment.
