A recurve bow is characterized by its forward-curved limb tips (“recurves”), which store additional energy during the draw and accelerate the arrow more efficiently. As a result, it is more powerful and often faster than a longbow of comparable draw weight. At the same time, it remains compact, easy to handle, and highly controllable. However, a recurve tends to be slightly louder when shot than a longbow.

A takedown bow is a traditional bow where the riser and limbs can be separated from one another. This makes it easier to transport, store, and customize, for instance by changing the limbs to ones with a different draw weight. Despite this modularity, the shooting experience remains traditional and direct, making takedown bows particularly versatile and durable. Depending on the model, there are takedown bows with both recurve and hybrid limbs.
